ABOUT ME

My name is Indrajit Kalita, a research associate at CYENS, Centre of Excellence, Nicosia, Cyprus. I am also a Ph.D scholar in the department of Computer Science and Engineering of Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati. I have enrolled for the above-mentioned course on 21st of July, 2017. Prior to that, I have a Masters (M.Tech in Information Technology) degree from Tezpur University, Tezpur and Bachelor degree (B.E in CSE) under Gauhati University, Guwahati, granted in 2017 and 2013, respectively.

I filled in as an Assistant Project Engineer(Text-to-Speech project) in Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati from 3nd April 2014 to 27th July 2015 under the direction of Prof. S. R. Mahadeva Prasanna (Dept. of EEE).

PROJECT TITLE

Adaptive Learning Models for Land-cover Classification with application in Remote Sensing based Monitoring of Agriculture and Forestry

The inquisitiveness of the human mind has been the driving force for advancements in all the fields. Yes, that is true, right from the stone age, the human race has evolved by developing new technologies that make life on the planet easier. One thing leads to another and here we are, developing artificially intelligent robots to assists us in fields like medical, disaster management, outer space exploration, car industry, military surveillance etc. In the current era, a large volume of remotely sensed images is accessible from various acquisition sources like satellites, manned and unnamed aerial vehicles. This research group is connected with the development of new techniques for better analysis of remotely sensed images so as to fulfil the aim of real-time earth monitoring.

The primary interest of the group is to apply knowledge from machine learning, pattern recognition, etc, to remote sensing. The group specialises in artificial neural networks and has numerous publications in applying shallow and deep learning for remotely sensed image analysis. At present, we are working towards agriculture monitoring using adaptive crop-cover monitoring using remotely sensed aerial images.

Image Classification using Deep Convolutional Neural Network

The purpose of the project is to create an image classifier using the deep convolutional neural network architecture. Here, the pre-trained deep convolutional neural network has been implemented to transfer the knowledge for some datasets with limited labelled information.

Development of Text to Speech System in Assamese and Manipuri Languages

The purpose of this project is to create Text to Speech synthesis systems in Assamese and Manipuri language for use in multiple apps such as screen readers, message readers, memory constrained devices (PDAs, mobile devices), etc. It also aims to develop interactive interfaces to learn the language of Assamese and Manipuri. This will also assist to popularize the language of Assamese and Manipuri and help to understand the language's grammatical structure.
